My favourite and best wedding photographs of 2016

06th January 2017
2016 was another year of wonderfully fun, funny, frenzied and fabulous year of weddings. I'm truly blessed to be able to earn a living doing something I love. Hanging out with lovely people while they have the time of their lives is pretty great.

Looking back over last year's weddings reminds me of all the laughs, tears and hugs I shared with my clients.

If they make me smile then I can only imagine how much joy they bring the families and friends of the couples involved.

Actually, I don't have to imagine. The photographs of my own wedding are a permanent reminder of how many lovely people are in my life. It's always fascinating to see their personalities captured in a single moment.

So here goes. A selection of wedding images from 2016 that make me smile for various reasons.

Some I love because I was proud of creating the idea.

Some I love because I was in the right moment at the right time.

Some I love because I'm proud I was able to help the people feel comfortable enough in front of the camera that they could laugh, smile or cry with genuine emotion.

Some I love because they remind me of what happened at that moment.
And one I love because, well, I've never seen a bride breast feed during the ceremony before. And yes, she was more than happy for me to put online. What a star!

That's one of the things I enjoy about photography - learning how to use your camera is only the first step. There's so much more to discover...

How to bring the best out of people is a never ending education.
Seeing the world through fresh eyes and using your camera, composition, light and artistic retouching to tell the story I see is, again, something you can always improve on.

That's why some photographers are so much better than others, even though we all know how to use our cameras.

Without wanting to sound like Forrest Gump, I always like to say that if you're tired of photography, you're tired of life.
