I was especially honoured to be asked to photograph Andy and Alexandra’s Barrington Hall wedding because… Alex is the owner’s daughter!

Of course Barrington Hall is gorgeous inside and out, but it was the warmth and fun of the people who sprinkled the magic over the day. I can’t remember the last time I saw nearly all 100 guests on the dance floor at the same time dancing with such enthusiasm.

Andy and Alex told me they wanted a laid back and fun wedding. That’s an understatement because it was pure joy from start to finish… everything from spraying Prosecco around Formula 1 style through to creating a twilight sparkler tunnel.

Why Barrington Hall is one of Cambridgeshire’s best wedding venues

Barrington is in the quaint village of Barrington 9 miles south-west of Cambridge. It’s smack-bang opposite All Saints Church so you can park at Barrington Hall and walk across the road to the church without stressing over parking (like you have to with many churches).

Barrington Hall is a Victorian Manor House with beautiful grounds with woodland and meadows. Andy and Alex’s wedding was in June and the meadows were bursting with poppies and other wild flowers. And there’s a very funky looking tree (I think it might be a Yew tree) which was great for arranging the bridesmaids and groomsmen on.

We had wonderful weather but if it had rained then there’s a winding staircase that would be perfect for group photographs.

There’s a variety of rooms to hold ceremonies and receptions, as well as a large marquee next to the house. This is what we used so that the party could easily spill out from the dance floor to the warm summer air.

Barrington Hall looks majestic during the day and at night it glows beautifully for romantic twilight shots. I loved using a series of radio controlled flashes to light up the building and create some eye-catching night-time shots of Andy and Alex.

It was a perfect wedding and I’d recommend Barrington Hall to anyone wanting to get married near Cambridge.
