Barn wedding in Cambridgeshire - Jack and Abi
/I'm not sure who had more fun at Jack and Abi's Barn wedding in Cambridgeshire - the children or the adults. Both were equally childish! And I fitted right in 🤣
Since I do lots of family photoshoots I was loving the chance to act the fool and get them giggling.
If you want something rustic then read this blog post about why I love a Bassmead Manor Barns wedding.
The 300 year old barn oozes character. There’s also a bridge that straddles the moat (yes a moat!). The bridge is lit up at night and looks amazing when I use my elaborate ‘off-camera flash’ lighting set up.
Abi couldn’t have been more chilled despite the fact friends, relatives, children and wedding suppliers were all buzzing around her all morning. That’s the right attitude - enjoy yourself and let everyone else worry about the plans.
Speaking of plans, I’d already created a mood-board with Jack and Abi so I knew exactly what kind of photographs they wanted. I keep a mood-board on my phone for every wedding so I can quickly refer to it throughout the day.
Abi looked beautiful in her dress from Wed2Be and with her lovely bouquet created by her mother in law Debbie.
Abi’s mum was teasing her all morning so later on I got revenge for her and captured some funny ones of her dancing and singing.
…I’ve always got my bride’s back! ;-)
The ceremony was perfect, as it always is at Bassmead Manor Barns. There’s a mezzanine (an upstairs bit!) so my second photographer got in position to photograph the ceremony from above while I stood at the front.
Since it was early February the wind was whipping around a bit, but Abi and Jack heroically toughed it out through the group photographs and romantic ones. We did some in the barn too to warm up!
After the wedding breakfast there was a brilliant singing performance by their family friend. He was both astonishingly good and hilarious (on purpose!). Although Jack may not agree as he got dragged to the mic and took some abuse!
I also got to meet the son of a hero of mine (the late, great Johnny Kingdom - a TV wildlife presenter and photographer).
What a day.
Below are some more of my favourites from the day. Please like and share and comment at the bottom of the page as it helps my Google ranking - I’d really appreciate it.
A huge shout out goes to the following suppliers who helped make the day so special:
