Often the best place for a family photoshoot is the location that holds the most meaning for you. That way the location becomes an extra memory in the photographs.

Family photos in your home

First and foremost, your own home is a fantastic place to consider because there’s nowhere with more memories and more scope for things to do. You can snuggle on the sofa, jump on the bed, have ‘bedtime’ stories, rampage around the garden, play football, play a board game or even have a watertight or food fight!

Ideas for family photoshoots near Cambridge

Before you get overwhelmed, with ideas I’d stress that most of my photoshoots are either out in the woods or in my clients home. The important thing is spending quality time with your family and connecting and I’ll help everything flow naturally.

If a big idea for a theme doesn’t come naturally and easily then it’s best to not overthink it.

That said, there are many ways of looking at the theme for your family photoshoot.

I’ve already mentioned the importance of capturing your family’s true personalities and the locations you like to go…

…but then there are the different seasons like Autumn leaves, bluebell woods, summer meadows and early winter sunsets.

…or what about different activities you like to do individually or together such as:

How many people can come on the photoshoot

You can have as many people as you want on the photoshoot. If there are more than 6 people then it’s an extra £70

How long does the photoshoot last?

Up to 2 hours as standard but you can add more hours at £50 per extra hour.

What happens if it rains?

We just reschedule at no extra charge.

What happens before the family photoshoot

To plan the photoshoot you can either fill out my questionnaire online, or we can have a chat over Zoom to bounce around some ideas.

I can even create a mood-board with you to discover the style of photographs you prefer. I’ll also give you a few tips on selecting clothes for the photoshoot.

The photoshoot

Treat it as ‘a family play-date’ where you’re there to have fun together. The children are the bosses for an hour or two.

Don’t worry about anything.

Don’t worry if your children will be shy or bonkers - I’ve never been defeated.

Don’t worry if they get some dirt on their clothes - I can edit it out easily.

Don’t worry if the children don’t want to do something - I have lots of tricks up my sleeve.

I love it when clients think there’s no way I could have got any good photographs because sometimes photoshoots seem chaotic. When they see the photographs they’re always blown away because they can’t see what I’m seeing.

I only need a split second to capture a perfect moment. Focus on having fun with your family and enjoy the ride!
