Extended family photoshoot at Burghley House
/Burghley House is a huge and beautiful historic park in Stamford and this family were keen to have their photoshoot there as it holds a lot of memories for them.
The grandmother is also an avid high-heel wearer so rampaging through woods wasn’t really the vibe she was after, but as you can see there was still a lot of love and cuddles.
We got lucky with the weather because it was quite cloudy and Burghley House doesn’t have too many shady spots to hide from the harsh summer sun.
If you’re considering a family photoshoot at Burghley House there are a few pros and cons to consider…
The benefits of a family photoshoot at Burghley House
The park is very large with a lot of different elements if you’d like variety in your photographs
The main park is free and so is the parking
There are deer that are quite tame in the park, although they’re quite a hike from the car park.
There’s ice cream and a cafe - great for a well deserved treat after the photographic exertions
The park is so big you can always find a quiet area (although see the bullet point below!).
The downside of a family photoshoot at Burghley House
Due to the size of the park there’s a lot of walking to get anywhere, so it’s not ideal for people with mobility challenges.
There’s not a lot of shade so on a sunny summer day there are only a few spots to hide from the harsh sun. If you’re there when the sun is setting then that’s not an issue, although it closes before sunset in the summer.
The park can get quite busy so you may feel a bit on display with people watching you while you’re being photographed.
It tends to close before the golden light near sunset, which is the best light for photography
